THE
The Times Higher Education is the UK's most authoritative source of information about higher education. Designed specifically for professional people working in higher education and research, The Times Higher was founded in 1971 and has been online since 1995.
What we do
The Times Higher covers policy issues and intellectual developments world wide through a specialist staff of reporters based throughout the UK, a large number of correspondents round the world, and many contributors from within the academic community. The Times Higher provides high quality information and analysis and a forum for debate for the academic community on higher education policy issues - public funding, tuition charges, quality assurance, institutional governance, student assessment, postgraduate training etc - and on intellectual developments, personalities and debates. Coverage includes a large number of book reviews of both specialised texts and books of general interest to an academic audience.
Services offered
The Times Higher newspaper is published every Friday. Job vacancies on the website www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/jobs_home.asp are updated every Tuesday. Job vacancies are available free, but unlimited access to the main Times Higher web site is exclusive to subscribers at no extra charge. The subscription site contains the full archive of the paper since 1994 and provides additional resources, including higher education statistics and research funding opportunities, not carried in full in the paper.
Times Higher Awards
The Times Higher Awards, now in their third year, are the only comprehensive awards scheme for UK higher education. They were designed to reflect the enormous, yet often overlooked, contribution universities make to the UK: They educate 1.25 million students, employ 1.8% of the nation's workforce, produce a scientific citation rate second only to America's and are worth £45 billion to the economy - more than the pharmaceutical or aerospace industries. Last year, more than 80% of UK universities entered in one category or another, and over 800 people attended the Awards dinner. This year, we have expanded the number of awards to include universities' activities in the arts, ICT and marketing, while continuing to recognise their work in research, publishing, widening participation, business and the local community. The Awards dinner will be held at the Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane, London, on November 29, contact Kelly Booker on 0207 782 3034 to book. A full list of awards and details on how to enter can be found at THE Awards
